I used to have a habit of ignoring my self-care. I was nervous to get a massage, so I put it off. I would eat the cheaper or more convenient food. I wouldn’t take time for myself, feeling like it was selfish or greedy. It’s taken a long time, but self-care has become more of a priority for me.
Nowhere is this more apparent than in the care and feeding of the energetic body. Since our energy centres - chakras, aren’t something we can see or touch in the mundane world, we can easily overlook this important facet of our being. All the stresses in our daily lives can make our chakras overactive or underactive, ultimately leading us to make decisions that may not be in our best interest, hinder our growth or even manifest as a physical illness or emotional crisis.
One of my friends used to have a throat chakra imbalance that would shift so dramatically, she had almost no control over her choice to speak. Some days, she would say things and not know why she kept talking, and all she was doing was putting her foot in her mouth. Other days, she barely said a word, even though you could see on her face that her thoughts were racing a mile a minute. Once we worked out that it was a chakra issue, we sat down and had a balancing session, and she found she had a much easier time choosing her words and expressing her true self.
Another chakra that I see often with an imbalance is the solar plexus chakra. Our solar plexus chakra can easily get out of balance, because among other things it is the seat of our self esteem.There are so many external factors that impact on us in this fast paced world and often we have no time to process so we are constantly second guessing and this creates anxieties, stress and doubt. Doesn't sound too good to be carrying that around now does it. So what can you do about it?
The best thing you can do is have a regular chakra tune up. This is similar to getting an oil change in your car or going through a day of spring cleaning in your home, but focused on your body’s energy systems.
